Most commonly, a religious service is held in a church or crematorium, however, alternative choices such as ceremonies lead by a civil celebrant have become increasingly popular. Tradition brings comfort to many whether that be through religious practices, choice of music and hymns, a floral tribute or to emulate the wishes of previous generations.

Visiting our Chapel
Some people find it comforting to visit the person who has died whilst they are being cared for by us before the funeral. This is a very personal choice that is always available if you wish
The Service or Ceremony
Most people choose to arrange a service or ceremony to remember the person who has died. Most commonly this would be lead by a religious minister or civil celebrant, however, some choose to lead the ceremony themselves with the help of family and friends
Burial or Cremation
Claridge's can arrange a burial or cremation depending on the persons wishes. Burials can take place in church yards, cemeteries, private land or natural burial grounds. Our local crematoria include North Wiltshire and Kingsdown in Swindon
The Reception/Wake
Many people choose to hold a reception after the funeral has taken place. This can be a time for reflection and celebrating the person who has died in a more informal setting where memories can be shared and good times remembered
